He has been telling me about how his group had grown large a few years ago, but they lost the building they were renting and many of the people went elsewhere for better programs. I had the opportunity to visit a local pastor with a unique ministry. He is training leaders with some innovative methods.
One skill that he teaches is how to make glasses. This particular method was developed by a German m|ss|onary. A person can make glasses for less than one dollar a piece without the need of electricity. Once each person selects the power of lens that they need, a cutting block is used to cut the lens into two pieces and bend the wires to make the frame.

There is a whole segment of the workforce that’s sole profession is driving. It is not uncommon for families with cars to have a driver. For internationals this is particularly helpful because of the unique problems that can arise on the road. In our apartment complex the basement is a parking garage. We had a wonderful opportunity today to visit a ministry that works with children from a local slum. These children live in a city lot filled with makeshift houses made of scrap pieces of lumber and metal covered with a tarp. They have no running water or electricity. One group here uses a grant from Baptist World Relief to feed these children once a day. On any given day there will be about 200 of these children crowded into this home, given a meal and taught about the bible. They …
